A family of orcas attacks a humpback whale calf.
An hour of strategy. Of frenzy.
We saw how they wouldn’t let it come up to breathe. How the mother fought desperately to save it, along with a male escort.
But she couldn’t. They separated them. And in the end, nature took its course…
A very shocking and sad event — the captains, with a lifetime at sea, had never seen anything like it.
A long and distressing hunt, pure planning by the orcas, a group of over 15 individuals who ended the calf’s life to eat its tongue.
This is the ocean sometimes — fierce, heartbreaking, unforgettable, and sad."
