First three slides are from back in June 2023.
The demolition is over a couple of days in January, this year, and the clean site is from May this year.
Shame this has to go. But the site had become an issue and both in antisocial trespassing and structural issues.
We will see what appears in it place.
These are some more of the #westpierbrighton from the summer adventures 2024.
Had a short window of decent sunshine and low winds so sent the #djimini3pro out to see what remains of the West Pier.
These were all taken from a single flight. Amazing how the same structure can been seen so differently. Viewpoint makes such a difference.
From 2024 Scottish adventures.
Still love how the drone gives unique and unseen views of things you see regularly. Interesting how the change in viewpoint gives a completely different appreciation of things

After nearly five years of owning a drone I finally managed to get up and film the home town annual fireworks display.
This is the finale with all the big rockets/shells. Highest ones are getting to ~400ft (122m in new money).
Previous attempts have been thwarted by wind/rain and day job having me the other end of the country. Did get to film last year but had to film from the other side of the railway and so was not close enough to get the busts to fill the frame.
This year the weather was iffy as it drizzled all day. But for the hour up to the display it stopped and then started as I walked back up the hill to the Old's.

Heart of Commuterville!
If this shot had been taken forty years ago. You would have seen 8 businesses in the shot. Now just one!
There was;
Corner shop (bottom left of crossroad junction) closed late 80's and now a house.
DIY /building supplies (right hand side of junction to the left) closed late 90's and now a house.
Corner shop (bottom right of crossroad junction) closed early 2000's and now split into two houses.
Many things but the last incarnation was a Charity Shop (furthest left of four on top left corner of crossroad junction) closed mid 2000's and now a house.
Collection of buildings in the top left of shot. This was an antique dealer and furniture workshop. Closed mid 2010's. Now houses and garages. There were other businesses in the area but all closed by the late 70's.
Originally a Post office and paper shop, then just paper and corner shop (top left of crossroad junction) closed 2019 and is now a flat (upstairs was already a maisonette).
Hairdressers (second on left of four on top left corner of crossroad junction) closed summer 2022 and now a House.
The last remaining (second from right of four on top left corner of crossroad junction). Many things but an electricians most of the 90's and early 2000's. Then became a beauticians which it is still today.
Many reasons have led to the demise of these little pockets of shops/businesses. But having had personal connections to these particular shops it is sad to see this little hub dissolve into the past.
Drone looking up
One feature I like about the #mini3pro is that you can look above the horizontal
Taken on an adventure day out with the Rascals August 2023
More of the #westpierbrighton from the summer adventures.
Short window of decent sunshine and low winds so sent the #djimini3pro out to see what remains of the West Pier.
Have had a few days, with the Rascals, down in Hove seeing eldest brother and their partner.
After a couple of very blustery (hence the murky sea) and rainy days Sunday morning was relatively calm and sunny. So popped the very short walk to the prom and sent the drone up.
Have always loved the look of the now very weathered iron skeleton that was once the west pier. The drone allows to get views that are just not possible from shore or boat
