@musicfestcanada is always a a wonderful time, there’s nothing quite like watching students you’ve just met perform, grow, and shine. But it’s even more meaningful when it’s your own students on that stage. I’m immensely proud of these four young artists and leaders for their outstanding performance and work with the @jlhbcanada this week!
Usually I’m the lone cheerleader for our crew at MusicFest, so it was a real treat to be joined by my friend and percussion colleague @musicatmemorial@rrrobpower , who surprised everyone and made the week even more special.
It was also great to bump into two new students who will be joining MUN community, Rhaevyn and Ethan, who will be joining @musicatmemorial this fall from @whoistritonmusic 🎉
A fantastic week at MusicFest, filled with music, growth, and great company!
Grateful to have these two wonderful humans in St. John’s, working with ensembles from across the province, and grateful we had some time to catch up. So lucky to have John and Leah here this week!

Another day, another iceberg! 🧊
Kristan and I went to see the iceberg in Cupids, NL today, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Take a close look at the second photo… notice anything? Now swipe to the third. I cannot believe I didn’t catch that when I first took the shot 😯 🐋

After three years in Newfoundland, I finally witnessed my first iceberg. Pictures barely scratch the surface of how enormous this giant really is, zoom in on the jet skiers for scale 😳

What an immense treat it has been working with students of the 2026 @tywomusic@ontariobandassociation Toronto Elementary Honour Band! These wonderful grade 7 and 8 students performed with great focus, attention to detail and heart. A true testament to the wonderful teaching and community in the GTA. Huge shout out and thanks to Shana Bates and Beryl Mcleod for being wonderful hosts and organizers, top notch people! Bravo all!

Forgot to grab a last-day-of-school photo with the MUN Wind Ensemble, my final class of the year! But I did manage to snap one earlier this week with my two graduating students, @owenswitzerland and @halleforde , from an undisclosed location 🤫
I’m incredibly proud of both of them for conducting in our final rehearsal today. The growth they’ve shown, two years for Owen and one for Halle, has been amazing to witness. You’ll be missed, Owen!

What a whirlwind of a week! Got home from the 3rd annual @rnfldr / @memorialubands Conducting Workshop at 10:30pm, then was back out the door at 4am to catch a 5:30am flight to Montreal to conduct the @quebecbandassociation Quebec Intermediate Honour Band this weekend. Feeling incredibly grateful, excited, and just a little bit tired 😂 See you soon Montreal!
One last sound check of @kenleykristofferson ‘s beautiful and moving Stars of November, which @madelinehildebrand and I will be performing at this evening’s Faculty Gala.
It’s a wonderful program with some fantastic performers and music, hope to see you there!
