The “Mega Cold” a lot of people are dealing with right now isn’t flu or COVID.
It’s often rhinovirus. A common cold virus that, this year, is causing a lot more inflammation, longer congestion, and a cough that just won’t quit.
If you’ve been sick for weeks, a few things may help support recovery:
Light movement once you’re improving.
Anti-inflammatory, whole foods.
And targeted immune support alongside rest and hydration.
Most of these illnesses are still self-limited, but how you care for your body can influence how long they linger.
I hope this helps and luck out there!

“I’ve just always had a real belief in plants. My dream would be to grow the brand’s philanthropic arm to a point where we could potentially open up a free medical clinic, or sponsor community gardens in schools to connect youth to how plants and food are grown.” He recalls the English folk tale Jack and the Beanstalk. “That’s magic, right? All children should have that experience of seeing seeds grow from small little drops of life into something huge.”

So hard to believe that after 10 years of formulating these products over my kitchen stove, we at all 11 @erewhon stores around Los Angeles! And when I walked into the Erewhon in Santa Monica, I found myself giving medical consultations to a few people in the aisle (watch the whole video), and that really is the energy behind this brand. The feeling of a trusted physician, a product line that you believe in, and one that can help you in multiple different ways. All ages. Magically multi-use. COME AND GET IT!!!!

When patients ask me about my style of parenting, I feel like the honest answer is to have my kid spend as much time with animals and plants as possible. There’s also also a deliberate amount of intended boredom in it all, fewer flashy toys and more flowers, more finding color and joy in the small things.
And maybe the most proud I’ve been as a dad so far is seeing my daughter chomp the air as she tries to snag a blackberry from one of our bushes (last video).
Anyways, one year and 24 days of Esther (but who’s counting )!

Eczema affects around 10 to 20% of children worldwide, with the incidence increasing over the past 50 years. Many factors are at play, including environmental toxins, lack of diverse gastrointestinal microbiota, hard water, and often the use of synthetic topical products.
We will be diving into eczema related topics this week, BUT also wanted to remind you that our baby balm is approved by the @nationaleczema association and @environmentalworkinggroup and is a crest all-natural and all-purpose moisturizer for eczema prone skin

Celebrating my mom today.
She passed away over seven years ago, and there’s still not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her.
She was fun. Really fun. She cursed, drank, smoked cigarettes, and made everybody around her laugh. She made avocado toast for me and my friends every day after school like it was her life’s calling. She had this energy that filled a room instantly.
And when i told her I was gay, she looked over while smoking a cigarette and said, “Well, I once had sex with a woman.” Then followed it up with, “And by the way, I’ve known you were gay this whole time.” And then we basically just moved on with our lives.
That was her.
She also struggled deeply, as so many humans do. She battled alcoholism, went in and out of rehab, and carried pain throughout much of her life. And I think the thing that hurt her most was the belief that she wasn’t the perfect mom.
But I can’t imagine my life without her as my mom.
And honestly, that’s something I see every single day in my medical practice—moms carrying guilt, feeling like they’ve failed their children for one reason or another. Feeling like they should’ve done more, been more, loved differently.
But I truly believe every mother is the perfect embodiment of motherhood for her child. Not because she’s flawless, but because there’s something so much bigger at play. Something cosmic in the timing of it all—the egg, the sperm, the stars, the moons, life unfolding exactly as it does—to pair a mother and her child together.
I think our parents shape us not only through their strengths, but through their struggles too.
Sending love to all the moms out there today.
Sharing 5 things I’ve learned from all the moms in my medical practice:
1) You will never spend enough time with your kid, even if you are literally with them 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s never enough.
2) You will get some version of every cold that your kid has, so it’s better not to worry about it upfront. Just get sick together and then you’ll be better together at the same time
3) Even if your kid has rolls on rolls on rolls on rolls, you will still worry if your kid is getting enough food
4) A mother’s heart has an infinite ability to expand love for other children, so never worry about not being able to love a second kid as much as the first.
5) Every mom is going to mother in a different way and there is no “right way” to be a parent. So try to have some self-compassion (and also fun) while parenting
Sending love to all!

My medical practice centers around being there for families at all stages, and one of the most common things I see everyday is a knowledge gap on flow rate with bottles. Families often get stuck bottle feeding their baby with the wrong flow rate, leading to spit up when the flow is too fast, or an infant refusing the bottle when the flow is too slow. That’s why I worked with @tommeetippeenorthamerica and the wonderful @milkymamallc on the development of their new Flow Rate Guide. Take a peek and download the guide HERE (link in bio), including an insightful foreword from the incredible @elsie

Photos from the past 60 hours that included 12 hours driving 2 baby lambs in diapers up the coast of California to be reunited with their flock. And then the rest of those 60 hours mostly a mix of cold plunging in the frigid ocean followed by hopping into a wood burning sauna at 210 degrees with a view of said baby lambs (who were very attached). Also a really good meal cooked on an open fire grill because it’s crab season in Mendocino. The cabin still looks good and the calendula field is GROWING. It was a very special weekend
