Attending the American Urological Association annual meeting in DC was a rewarding experience. It’s always uplifting to connect with colleagues and learn about the latest advancements in our field.
During the event, I had the opportunity to meet four individuals who recognized me from my educational content on TikTok. While I may not be a celebrity, it was encouraging to see that my efforts add value for other providers, students, APPs, and anyone interested in urology. The field of urology is exceptional, and video content on social media significantly influences how our profession is perceived and understood.

The yellow box of doom. 📉
Every clinician knows the pain of an EMR “Allergy” list that includes everything from life-threatening anaphylaxis to “it gave me a headache.” This technical limitation doesn’t just create extra clicks—it creates clinical noise that can mask real dangers.
Is it time for an AI-driven overhaul of how we track patient reactions? Let me know your EMR horror stories in the comments. 🩺💻

Just because a physician has a great “hook” doesn’t mean they’re the right fit for your clinical needs. 🩺💡
As both a physician and a creator, I’ve seen firsthand how the skills required for social media—like communication and “flashiness”—don’t always correlate with clinical expertise. While a great online persona can make a doctor more approachable, it’s important to look deeper when it comes to your health.
In this video, I’m sharing:
• Why follower count isn’t a measure of skill.
• When it does make sense to travel for a specialist.
• Why I chose a local surgeon for my own gastric bypass.
Choosing a doctor is a big decision—make sure you’re looking at the right metrics.

🚨 MEDICAL RED FLAGS: The Case of Michael Close 🚨
Is your “wellness” provider actually licensed? This story is a wild reminder to always do your homework. 🩺
Michael Close was recently arrested for running an unlicensed wellness clinic out of a home in Indiana—but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. 📉
The Stats:
• 21,000+ doses of controlled substances unaccounted for in Illinois.
• Multiple probations and a permanent license suspension.
• Injecting NAD+ and B12 without medical oversight.
Science check: While NAD+ is vital for mitochondrial energy transfer, there is no solid evidence that we need IV supplementation—especially from someone practicing out of a car or a living room. 🧬
Protect yourself: If your doctor is operating out of a residential home or a vehicle, verify their license immediately. Don’t let a “wellness” trend compromise your safety.

Caption: “🚨 5 Important Things Every Man Should Know About BPH (Enlarged Prostate) Treatment in 2026
Gone are the days of just Flomax or a major TURP surgery. Urology has changed dramatically — and these 5 updates can genuinely impact your quality of life:
1️⃣ It’s no longer one-size-fits-all — there are medications, office-based procedures, lasers, embolization & more.
2️⃣ Sexual side effects (especially ejaculation) are now a major discussion point for many men.
3️⃣ Your specific anatomy (prostate size, median lobe, bladder function, blood thinners, etc.) should drive the best treatment.
4️⃣ Durability matters — some quicker-recovery options may need retreatment sooner.
5️⃣ Don’t ignore it if you have significant obstruction. Long-term bladder damage is real.
If you’re over 50 and dealing with urinary symptoms, this is worth watching and sharing with the men in your life.

would I become a doctor again? Premed students love to ask this question and for me it is a complicated answer. I love being a doctor being a urologist is the most awesome thing ever. I don’t know that I could go through the training process again, knowing how difficult it would be emotionally physically and all the other ways. Even the most “benign programs” tend not to treat residents with the respect that they deserve. I literally have nightmares about being dropped in the middle of residency again. So for me. It’s a complicated answer. #premed #medschool #residency #urologist #physicianlife
Sometimes providers forget that outside testosterone replacement therapy, inhibits sperm production, and causes azoospermia in about 85% cases. Please be sure to ask any man if he plans on having children before starting outside testosterone. It is very unlikely to permanently impact fertility, but can certainly slow down the process. #fertility #testosterone #menshealth #urology #endocrinology
Can a doctor actually sue you for a bad review? 🏥⚖️ Technically, yes—but it’s not as simple as you think. From the First Amendment to the “HIPAA Handcuff,” here is why most physicians can’t (and won’t) fight back against that one-star rating.
Stay tuned for the truth about medical “defamation” and why that review might not mean what you think it does.

this feels dangerous to put words in the mouthes of others, particularly nurses. But I feel safe saying “it’s not short staffed when it happens every day” we are dealing with an absolute nursing crisis in the United States and the pressure on nurses is simply incredible. As a physician, I see you and I appreciate you and I cannot express my gratitude strongly enough. #nursing #shortstaffed #crisis #physician #nursesweek
here is the deal. Social isolation and transportation insecurity hurt patients every single day. Many able-bodied patients can bring themselves to an appointment, but cannot find a driver to take them home after an elective procedure and elective does not mean unnecessary. Elective stone procedures, screening, colonoscopies, save lives and keep patients out of the hospital. but we wait until people are so sick that they have to call the ambulance resulting in more expensive care and often a delayed diagnosis which means the patient cannot be cured. In South Carolina Medicaid does pay for non-emergent medical transport, but most commercial plans do not. So the bottom line is social isolation and transportation insecurity is a constant risk to life. #medicaltransport #socialisolation #healthcare #mortality #healthinsurance
