What if joy is actually part of healing? I came to Cannes for the premiere of @shealeddoc , and somewhere between the red carpets, ocean views, conversations, and laughter, I was reminded of something important: Healing is not just about reducing symptoms. Sometimes it is about remembering how to feel alive again. The nervous system needs beauty.
It needs connection.
It needs awe, meaning, creativity, and joy too. And maybe that is not separate from healing.
Maybe it is part of it. #Cannes #sHEALed #HealingJourney #FunctionalMedicine #NervousSystemHealing MindBodyConnection TheUnforgettingProject

When someone thinks their hormones are off, the instinct is to focus there first. Sometimes that is part of the picture. But more often, hormones are reflecting how the rest of the system is functioning. How well things are being processed. How much the body is carrying. How consistently it is able to regulate. That is why focusing only on hormones can feel incomplete. You may see temporary shifts, but not the stability you are looking for. When you step back and look at the full picture, patterns start to connect. That is usually where the work becomes more clear and more effective. If this resonates and you would like support looking at the full picture, comment SPRING and my team can share details about working with us at The Spring Center.

Hormone imbalance is often treated as the starting point. It is often the reflection. What I am trying to understand is what the body has been working with. How well digestion is supporting the system. Whether the liver can keep up with what it is processing. What the nervous system has been holding over time. What the body is being exposed to on a daily basis. Those inputs shape how hormones behave. When that context is not addressed, hormone patterns tend to keep shifting. When it is, things often begin to stabilize in a more consistent way. This is why the work is not just about adjusting hormones. It is about understanding the system they are responding to. If you are looking for a more comprehensive approach, comment SPRING and my team can share details about working with us at The Spring Center.

Hormones don’t set the pace. They respond to it. A gentle warning: if hormones are the only thing being looked at, there’s a good chance something deeper is being missed. If sleep has been inconsistent, if stress has been ongoing, if digestion has been off, the body adapts. And hormones shift as part of that adaptation. So when something feels off hormonally, it is often worth asking not just what needs to be corrected, but what the body has been compensating for over time. Because hormones are often reflecting the overall state of the system. That is usually where the pattern becomes clearer. If this resonates and you are ready to look at the full picture, comment SPRING and my team can share details about working with us at The Spring Center.

It often gets labeled as a hormone issue. And sometimes hormones are part of it. But when the system is already carrying a high load, hormones tend to reflect that rather than cause it. Digestion may be strained. Sleep may be inconsistent. Stress may be ongoing. The body may be processing more than it can fully keep up with. In that context, hormone patterns shift. Trying to correct hormones without looking at the overall load often does not move things in a lasting way. The question becomes less about “which hormone is off” and more about what the body is being asked to handle. That is usually where the pattern starts to make more sense. If this feels familiar and you are ready for a more comprehensive approach, comment SPRING and my team can share details about working with us at The Spring Center.

Symptoms are often grouped under “hormone imbalance.” And sometimes that label is helpful. But it can also be incomplete. Because hormones do not operate on their own. They respond to digestion, sleep, stress, liver function, and what the body is exposed to over time. When something feels off, it is natural to look at hormones first. But many of the patterns people attribute to hormones begin upstream. That is why labs can appear “normal” while the experience in the body feels anything but. It does not mean nothing is wrong. It means there may be more to understand. When you start looking at the full system, the picture often becomes clearer. If this resonates and you feel like something is being missed, comment SPRING and my team can share details about working with us at The Spring Center.

There is a tendency to label symptoms as “hormone issues” very quickly. Sometimes that is accurate. But often, those hormone patterns are reflecting something that has not been fully looked at yet. 👉 Digestion. 👉 Liver function. 👉 Sleep quality. 👉 Stress patterns. 👉 Daily exposures. Hormones respond to the environment they are in. When we focus only on adjusting hormones, we can miss the context that is shaping them. That context is often where the pattern starts to make sense. If you’ve been told it’s your hormones but things still don’t feel resolved, comment SPRING and my team can share details about working with us at The Spring Center.

Being told your labs are “normal” can be reassuring. But it can also be confusing when you still don’t feel like yourself. Fatigue that doesn’t make sense.
Sleep that feels off.
Mood shifts, brain fog, changes in your cycle. Those experiences are real, even when they don’t show up clearly on standard testing. 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘀. They do not always reflect how the body is functioning day to day, or what it is adapting to over time. So if something feels off, it is worth paying attention to that. There is often more to understand beneath the surface. If you’ve been told everything looks normal but you still don’t feel well, comment 𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚 and my team can share more about working with us at The Spring Center.
