Happy Mother’s Day to all… to all women who bring their fierce feminine energy to life every single day. While traveling my own motherhood journey I’ve often grappled with my own sense of what it means to be a woman.
I may not be delicate… but I am unapologetically feminine. I love my boys fiercely, with every ounce of my being. Watching my three awesome sons blossom into strong young men, all black belts, with a deep sense of honor and respect for women, has been my greatest joy…. I am forever grateful for them.
Cheers to womanhood, to motherhood, to finding strength in softness, and to celebrating the power in each of us. 💖
The first one was powerful… so we had to run it back. 💥
Our first Women’s Open Mat was an incredible success —
strong energy, great rolls, new connections, and an amazing atmosphere on the mats.
Now it’s time for the second edition… and we’re going even bigger. 🔥
This is more than just training —
it’s about support, growth, confidence, and community.
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced,
Gi or No-Gi… you belong here.

Patience vs. Hesitation: a concept that came up in my private lesson this morning with @ifabiotrindade at @gbstudiocity … and something I’ve spent quite a bit of time meditating on this afternoon.
Patience. That calm, quiet, controlled confidence. Waiting for the right moment, recognizing the correct angle, allowing time for each detail to fall into place in such a way that the end result is inevitable.
Hesitation. That pause, the overthinking, the passive permission to allow that perfect moment to pass. The purposeless movements, the loss of focus… the failure to launch, to dive in, and to execute.
Often, as we tiptoe outside the comfort zone, our hesitations get excused away by the thinly vailed guise of “I was just being patient”.
But at its heart patience is fierce, is fearless and is unapologetic about what’s about to happen.
As I deepen my Blue Belt journey I’m working on what patience really means, while getting rid of messy hesitation.
It’s not easy to face the fears, the overthinking, and the freeze of hesitation… but growth lies on the other side of this comfort zone wall.
I’ll just need to trust the process… and be patient 😉💙
On the eve of International Women’s Day… my heart is so filled with awe, gratitude and respect for women in martial arts … the women who show up, work hard, bring their fiercest self, and elevate everyone around them.
I am so grateful to share the mat, the gym, and the podium with such amazing women.
GB CompNet California Winter Championship 2026!

Today marks one year since I stepped on the mat at @gbstudiocity . Phew. One year.
A year of blood, sweat and tears. A year of challenges, and a year of growth. A year of friendship and family.
Becoming a martial artist is a special kind of magic … the more energy you pour into it, the more it pours back into you.
I could not be more grateful for my journey … and for the people who truly pour into my practice every single day. To @ifabiotrindade and @rodrigo_ttt … to @shahyandalal and the rest of the GB family- thank you, truly, for making me feel safe, welcome, supported and inspired every single day of this year.
To all the women I have been so privileged to work with in our new Women’s Class- thank you. It’s a special honor to be a part of your journey, and to have you as a part of mine.
On the mat, Elizabeth Hawk of Gracie Barra Studio City brought the fight to cancer at our LA BJJ Open. Off the mat she has a different roll, and as a Cancer Care Physician continues the fight everyday. Thank you for sharing your reason, and providing inspiration for all of us today!

This one was personal. Fighting for my patients. Fighting for the young physicians I’ve been so fortunate to teach, and fighting for my colleagues in healthcare that treat cancer on the front lines every single day.
It was such a a cherished honor and privilege to fight at the FIRST Los Angeles @tapcancerout today!
Thank you to the tournament organizers for such a beautifully run event.
Thank you to my awesome Coach for the day @eatdotschaseghosts for bringing out the best in me.
Thank you to @hollywoodjudodojo for the extra tournament prep!
And thank you to my home gym @gbstudiocity@ifabiotrindade@rodrigo_ttt for all the amazing ways you support me and help me grow on and off the mat.
To all the patients I have been so honored to care for- this one is for you. Your bravery inspires me beyond measure- keep fighting, and I’ll be fighting in your honor every step of the way. 💖
Reflecting on my experience at GBF Camp 2026 @gbfcamp . Profoundly grateful for the experience of being surrounded by incredibly fierce women, and the bond of sisterhood I was welcomed into. There are core moments that shape each martial artists path, and this weekend was one of mine. Thank you to all the incredible professors who shared their knowledge with such beautiful passion and warmth. Grateful for my new friendships, my fueled passion and the exciting road ahead. 💖
Today, 2/11 is International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Today promotes equal access to STEM, celebrates trailblazing women, and encourages future generations of female scientists. Established by the UN General Assembly, this day highlights the critical role women play in innovation and tackles the gender gap in scientific fields.
Being a female physician scientist has been a tough road- one that has tested and challenged me over and over, one that nearly broke me on many occasion. One that was not always fair. But it’s a road I choose to travel and I am proud of my journey.
My strength, my fortitude, my resilience, and my focus comes from my martial arts practice. I could not do what I do in medicine and science without the training foundation built on the mat.
Tonight I bowed into a NoGi class at my home BJJ gym @gbstudiocity . I was the only woman. Every single man I trained with left me feeling stronger, challenged, safe, and inspired.
Find your place that builds you up, that teaches you that you can in-fact take on the world- even if you are in a male dominated field. Find a place that makes you feel welcome, safe, and motivated to grow. Find your place, cherish it, respect it, be grateful and never take a second for granted.
To all my fellow physicians and scientists - come join me! I’d love to see you on the mat!
What a great day today with my @hollywoodjudodojo family. Brought home first place in the Masters Women’s Novice @sfv_judo Kohaku.
Deeply grateful for the phenomenal guidance of my sensei, Sensei Philippe and for all the support from Sensei @anthonythrows . So proud of my fellow dojo mates for their fierce inspiring fights!
So much learned both in my own matches and also from watching my team compete!
Fighting back to back days in BJJ followed by Judo this weekend has left my body spent, my head spinning & my heart full. Grateful for my martial arts filled life.
Shout out to @phoenix.krowns for my battle braids and @winkbarlash for bringing a little ✨ to my fight. 💖
