Thereâs a difference between being magnesium-deficient and being a bit magnesium suboptimal.
Most of the men I see taking magnesium supplements arenât actually deficient. The only condition with solid evidence for supplementing is migraine, where it does seem to help. For everything else, food does the job. Nuts, leafy greens, bananas, beans.
If you still feel off after that, go and get a blood test before you spend any more on capsules.

Americans love the word cholesterol. Theyâre also more scared of it than they need to be.
Itâs become this big, terrifying thing in the wellness world, especially in the States. Your body needs cholesterol. Your liver makes it for a reason. Itâs what you use to produce hormones, bile, vitamin D, and plenty of stuff you canât function properly without. We just donât need very much of it, and modern food has it everywhere.
Thousands of years ago, youâd have had to hunt something like a sabertooth tiger and eat the fat off it to get a decent amount, and that would last you ages. Now itâs in almost everything you eat without you even thinking about it.
This is also where the statin debate comes in. I hear it constantly. People worry theyâre dangerous, or think they can just cut every bit of fat out of their diet instead. The evidence doesnât back either of those up. You could drop dietary cholesterol to nearly zero and your liver would still make enough.
If a doctorâs told you you need a statin, take the statin. Donât talk yourself out of it.

Thereâs roughly a three year window from the onset of erectile dysfunction to a cardiovascular event. Angina, heart attack, stroke.
The artery that supplies the penis is almost identical to the ones supplying your heart. So if something is going wrong down there, the same thing is likely going wrong up here.
Donât ignore it and just buy something online. Get it tested properly.
