This is my friend and ceramic artist, Florencia Califano, at the salt flats today. She is the one who has made this little adventure of mine possible in el Norte de Argentina, This has been a remarkable week for sure and it would not have happened without her help. Thank you so much! A very good ceramic artist, world traveler, and has been very kind to this old fart.#madpotteroftheozarks
A panoramic view of the mountains that encircle the the salt flat lakes. Coca tea really helps with the altitude. #mulberrycreekpottery #ozarkwabi #lifeintheandes
This is how the indigenous groups here manage the salt flats. No mining for lithium. They gather salt and other minerals and sell it as feed supplement for animals. Surrounded my a volcanic mountain range -15 to 16,000 ft. The flats, after rain, form these pentagram patterns across the whole salt flat lake. As you can see from the sign they are not into lithium mining. An amazing experience, but the altitude wasted me for the rest of the day. I am bringing some samples home to experiment with. #madpotteroftheozarks #quasiwabi #ozarkwabi
