From New York to Los Angeles, a distance of 2825 miles was conquered by the fearless drivers Arne Toman and Doug Tabutt in just 27 hours and 25 minutes. Their average speed, including stops, was an impressive 103.1mph, with a top speed reaching 193mph.
Assisted by spotter Berkeley Chadwick, the team set out on November 10-11, 2019, in their 2015 Mercedes E63 AMG, lovingly named “Angry Ursula”. This powerhouse was equipped with an ALPHA 9 Turbo System by BNZHAUS, tuned to a roaring 800HP by AMS Performance. To ensure a successful run, the car featured a trunk-mounted 45 gallon auxiliary fuel cell, dual fuel transfer pumps, and a firewall separating the trunk from the interior.
For evading the authorities, the vehicle was armed with a range of police countermeasures, including AL Priority laser diffusers, a Net Radar radar detector, an Escort Passport Max360 radar detector, a Cobra CB Radio, and a Uniden Police Scanner programmed for all states. In addition, they utilized iPads, iPhones running Waze, two Garmin GPS units, and a Plane Crash Avoidance System to detect police aircraft. Following its repairs, the vehicle underwent a meticulous detailing session courtesy of Driven Elite Detailing & The Detail Shop also known as The Car Dad. The products utilized for this service were generously sponsored by Detailed Image, whose support made the transformation possible. The process included a comprehensive three-step paint correction using the advanced Rupes DA System, followed by the application of a durable five-year ceramic coating by Gtechniq. The exterior received a thorough decontamination wash using CarPro Reset and Iron X.
