Wow I cannot believe it has only been 1 month of 2025. Most years January/Feb are hibernation months but this year I;
1. Moved from the east end to a more central location and living with one of my besties @brando.hart . director @jairomusician had a vision here as I left the place I called home from 2023-2025, the longest I’ve stayed at one spot since moving to Canada almost 8 years ago.
2. @drivenelement_ and @lxpway were visiting from Australia! Finally got to show Jeff Toronto Style.
3-5. Went to Montreal for the first time! Ate a lot of delicious food. Jeff treated me to Joe Beef and I learned I need to make more money so I can eat lavish.
6. Fuck it, Pink Pony Club. Played a show at the Bovine and also started the process of recording a new single with the band as well as planning out the year. I know it’s early and a little cliche but I think this is going to be the most exciting year for us yet and if you don’t follow @mandatoryovertime.to yet you should.
7. Got to see Sum 41 play their last ever show. Big band from my childhood that’s had a massive influence on me

DID I INVENT A NEW GENRE OF MUSIC?? Probably not
But if I had to call it something, I guess it would be Electro-metal? Either way, it’s called ‘Go’ and it’s off of my most recent EP called ‘Fermata’!
Context: Every time I make a track that can include a @jeffcorcoran_ solo, I do it because of his consistently tasteful phrasing mixed with the perfect amount of metal shred. Funnily enough, the last collaboration we had was ambient and relaxing lol
The song itself is a representation of the pressure to perform at a fast pace daily to achieve my musical goals. Sometimes, the quick moves and GO GO GO bring about the greatest joys (when paired with waiting and downtime, but more on that later)

FERMATA EP - SURPRISE!

Backstory:
Each song on this EP was created based on how I feel about each stage of my day. They also happen to make great video game-type music!
While I won’t explain away each song, I will briefly tell you what they mean to me:
Good Morning represents the double-edged feeling I get when I wake up ready to tackle my day, with a slight sense of uncertainty of what my day holds
Go represents how fast-paced my life as a full-time musician can get, usually with a split- second to get ready for it
Waiting represents how some people hate the feeling of waiting for the next big thing to happen, but how I’ve found peace in those moments, especially after a ‘Go’ day
Downtime is when I stop being busy for a couple of days and start to dive into a ‘downtime’ spiral of overstimulating on screens (kind of the opposite of ‘Waiting’)
And the final track, Fermata, is about finding clarity and solace in having days that twist and turn, and move up and down in using my energy. It’s also represented by the EP cover, which is a Fermata, which I also happen to have a tattoo of 👀
The Artwork was designed based on my Fermata Tattoo, and symbolizes how we as people hold onto things, and then let those things come and go in a way that suits our needs and desires.
