There were 12 NHL forwards who played in at least 75 games during the regular season and recorded less than 20 points. Ondrej Palat was one of them, and he had the highest salary ($6 million) among the group.
Do you think Mathieu Darche and the Islanders will buy out Palat this offseason?

The Long Island Rail Road is in the news, so here’s a throwback to the Islanders taking the LIRR from Garden City to Brooklyn for their first practice at Barclays Center in 2013.
Did you enjoy taking the train to Barclays Center?

The hockey world received some sad news yesterday. Paul Boutilier has passed away at the age of 63.
Boutillier won the Stanley Cup with the Islanders in 1983. Selected 21st overall in the 1981 NHL Draft, Boutillier played in 213 regular season games with the Islanders, tallying 20 goals, 69 assists, 89 points and 250 penalty minutes. He was a gritty, physically defenseman who wasn’t afraid to drop the gloves — interestingly, he fought former Islanders head coach Lane Lambert at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on Oct. 17, 1984.
After his hockey career, the Nova Scotian served in various coaching and front office positions across collegiate, junior and professional levels of hockey.
Rest in peace, Paul Boutilier. 💙🧡

The Islanders have drafted three of the 10 biggest busts of the 21st century, according to this list posted by Funny Roses on Facebook.
Rick DiPietro (2000), Griffin Reinhart (2012) and Michael Dal Colle (2014) made the top 10. The Islanders traded Reinhart to the Oilers in 2015 for the draft picks that eventually became Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier.
What are your thoughts on this list? Do you think DiPietro, Reinhart and Dal Colle are three of the biggest draft busts in NHL history?

Thirty-three years ago today, David Volek was the most unlikely of heroes as the Islanders eliminated the Penguins.

Matthew Schaefer went back home to Ontario today after his sensational rookie season.
In a one-on-one interview with Ethan Sears of The New York Post yesterday, Schaefer said “it’s funny, cause Long Island feels like home to me now and I never want to leave.”
“I honestly knew not much about Long Island or New York [last year]. Now I feel like I know everything. The food is off the charts, everything about Long Island. There’s so much to do. You got the Hamptons, you got a lot of beaches around, you got a lot of golf courses. You can go in the city if you need. Just everything about it, but especially the people. The people make it the best.”
Well said, Schaef! 🔥

Boomer Esiason said on @wfansportsradio this morning that he tried to convince Matthew Schaefer “into forcing a trade to the Rangers.”
“But I don’t think that’s going to work.” 😂

There are few things I want more in life than Matthew Schaefer and the Islanders to win the Stanley Cup.
