In regard to documenting Meeting Of Styles (MOS) Indonesia 2026 in Solo, we had a brief chat with a returning artist, curator, and cultural activist who’s seen the scene evolve from the inside.
He’s coming back for the people and the culture. The Indonesian scene draws talent from everywhere, and MOS give him the space to spend time with old friends, meet new artists, and push his work further than the year before. For him, it’s about sharing stories, celebrating life, and the love of letters.
When asked about Indonesia compared to other countries, the answer was immediate: the welcome is warmer, the laughter is louder, and the organization is tight. In just 3 days, the Indo crew deliver an experience that feels complete.
On graffiti’s role in public space, he was clear. Graffiti started it all, and many of the best artists never let that fire die. More than decoration, it’s social commentary, resistance, and pure will. Across the world, cities are opening walls to art, and Indonesia is proving it can produce world-class writers.

Potongan bars di atas entah kenapa begitu kuat memprovokasi pikiran. Rantai kausalnya begitu tegas. Diksi, rima, dan majas yang disemburkan oleh Saba seperti menginterkoneksikan akar kebijakan politik luar negeri Amerika dengan segala kebangsatan yang sedang hangat-hangatnya terjadi di negeri ini.
Sejujurnya, bars tersebut sengaja ngebuka topeng militerisme modern: “when the green open up, they seem to Navy SEAL it”. Green di sini adalah metonimi buat duit/sumber daya. Begitu ada potensi profit, negara langsung nurunin militer buat “ngamanin deal”. Baris “For material item, it get real militaristic” negasin: masalah ekonomi dijawab pake bedil. Ini bukan soal perang doang, tapi soal gimana seragam dipake buat ngurusin bisnis.
Tau lah ya kita gimana Amerika serikat yang punya tuhan berakronim GOD (Gold, Oil, Dollar) ini dari dulu celamitan pisan ngegempur negara orang yang sumber dayanya gede banget.
Pola yang sama kebaca jelas di negeri kita. Jenderal aktif rangkap jabatan komisaris BUMN & main tambang, RUU yang legalin tentara duduk di pos sipil, itu semua bentuk “green” yang di-“Navy SEAL”-kan. Semua masalah sipil dijawab pake logika militer, karena lebih cepet, nggak banyak debat, dan kebal audit.
Saba nutup bait mautnya pake tamparan: “Milli Vanilli, we silently sittin’ / Watching bombs get dropped on the homes of Palestinians”. Kita tahu ini palsu, tahu ini nggak beres, tapi diem aja. Kalau di sini, di tanah kita “bom”-nya bukan rudal. Bomnya adalah hutan gundul, APBN bocor, jabatan sipil diacak-acak, dan warga sipil dipaksa tunduk sama komando. Sistemnya sama: selama ada “green”, militer turun. Bedanya cuma di korban & skalanya. Yang jelas waktu nggak bakal nyembuhin ini kalo kita terus silently sittin’.
