Dr Hook management have been informed that in the UK there is a ’tribute’ show that has been advertised as the REAL Dr Hook, even using a more recent picture of Dennis and Dr Hook live on stage on the posters.
Please be aware of any bogus live dates that are advertised as Dr Hook on social media, venue or any other platforms around the globe, as we do not want fans of Dr Hook to be disappointed.

A message from Dennis 🥰
“It’s not very often that something from Hook’s past surprises me but this clip from the US TV show, @themidnightspecialtvshow , did exactly that. We were on the show several times, even hosting once but I have absolutely no recollection of doing this mash-up. We obviously had to arrange and rehearse it which I also don’t recall. I’d bet Ray and I put it together.
I love it! It shows how spontaneously one-off Hook could be. I’m sure we never played it anywhere else.
It will invite the usual ‘Look how stoned they were!’ comments. I’ll only say this - Maybe just stoned enough to come up with such a cool idea but not too stoned to pull it off perfectly…on national television!
Enjoy it! I really did!”

This is the coolest mixup- 1974 live -Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show - The Cover of ‘Rolling Stone & Sylvia’s Mother
“The Cover of ‘Rolling Stone’” is a song written by Shel Silverstein and first recorded by American rock group Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show. Produced by Ron Haffkine and released in 1972, it was the band’s third single and peaked at No. 6 on the U.S. pop chart for two weeks on March 17–24, 1973. The song satirically laments that the band had not appeared on the cover of the Rolling Stone, a magazine that focuses on music, politics, and popular culture. The song’s success led to the band appearing on the cover of the March 1973 issue of Rolling Stone, albeit in caricature.
-“Sylvia’s Mother”, a 1972 single by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show, was the group’s first hit song. It was written by Shel Silverstein.
“Sylvia’s Mother” is autobiographical, with songwriter Shel Silverstein drawing upon his unsuccessful attempt to revive a failed relationship. Silverstein had been in love with a woman named Sylvia Pandolfi. She later became engaged to another man and ended up as a museum curator at the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil in Mexico City. Desperate to continue the relationship, Silverstein called Pandolfi’s mother, Louisa, but she told him the love had ended.
