The future is field, not a point. The cone of plausibility maps it: probable at the centre, possible at the edges, preferable wherever you decide to aim. Most people plan inside the probable zone, playing it safe. But the problem with consensus futures is that everyone is already building them. Clearly the interesting work happens at the edges.
