I recently had the incredible opportunity to meet Steve Hein, learn a little bit about his life, and photograph him and his birds for @scout_motors . Steve is an artist, an educator, and a Master Falconer.
He has made a living by being a steward of the natural world—observing it, protecting it, and inviting others to do the same.
And he drives a bitchin’ 1977 IH Scout II. As Steve puts it: “It fits the dog and the birds. I don’t mind getting it dirty, either. It’s just a truck, it’s a tool. It’s a good truck. It’s a good tool.”
Whether it’s carrying a bald eagle prior to GSU football games, or two falcons and his dog—Steve’s Scout II has been his vessel for experiencing the natural world and living a wild life.

Time to break-in the BMW! The 2026 R1300RT is pretty incredible. It’s a luxurious, big-bore, sport-touring, German-refined, multi-tool of a motorcycle. Fast, fun, and comfortable—and everything else you’d expect from BMW.
It treated me and @okayybay quite nice as we toured the north Georgia mountains for its maiden voyage. I’m excited to put some more miles on this bike and experience everything it has to offer…

Tumbleweeds to Snowflakes… Last spring I spent some time riding around Santa Fe and northern New Mexico, handcrafting this Shramrock Tour for @roadrunnermag . I experienced 4 seasons in 4 days, tumbleweeds in the desert and twisty mountain roads that lead to surprise snowstorms.
New Mexico in the springtime offers it all. The tour is now in print in the March / April issue of @roadrunnermag so grab a copy. Subscribers have access to the GPS files to recreate any routes! I had @softswerv_ as my host and chauffeur, offering plenty of local knowledge and taking some awesome photos of me.
