For the best toy piano capture, look no further than vintage Shure Sm81. Vintage ones. Has to be vintage. @dogstarstudiosatx @theoddadvantage

Oil Colours - A visual mixtape set to original lofi music composed by myself in collaboration with Isaac Pulido (IP Drums). Mastered by @drewleclair @dogstarstudiosatx Available on YouTube for a superior viewing experience (link in bio). Musical Artist: LoomingSteelRainbows I wrote this in the span of about a week in December as an experiment, rapidly printing down stems through lofi devices in minimal takes so as to simulate the sound of older records. The tricky bit about making music in this style, is going beyond “futzing” to seek out something that captures the pleasing aspects of the technology while softening the bad aspects - that emerge naturally as a byproduct of using & simulating broken components & processes. Working with Isaac’s drum parts as a foundation sped things up tremendously, as well as streamlining things through creative limitation and efficient DAW usage. This project inspired me to start drumming again! I’m excited to apply what I learned here to the next Lofi project. Special thanks to Drew for helping keep my mixes more consistent in the final master. I edited this whole thing in Da Vinci Resolve, and I think I’m officially breaking up with Premiere & Avid Media Composer. The visual component is a love letter to my nerdy interests, favorite artists, and nostalgic aesthetics.
