Remember that time-lapse of a puddle draining we shared a few weeks ago? Turns out, almost 4 MILLION people do too. 🤯 Serious. Who knew puddles could be this captivating? Should we start a series? Hit us with a💧emoji in the comments. 👀

Ribbon cutting 16 years ago today. Around 50 riders rolled up to see what a purpose-built trail in Squamish could look like. Half Nelson helped change the direction of trail building here and paved the way for much of the funding and permissions that followed. Built in 2010 with partial funding from RSTBC and a whole lot of volunteer effort, it showed what could happen when the community got behind a clear vision. 102 jumps, 68 berms, and still drawing riders from around the world all these years later. Maybe the biggest success is that it still works exactly as intended — helping riders build confidence while feeding energy back into the entire trail network. Proud to still be out there improving and maintaining this important community asset after all these years. How many laps do you think you’ve put in down Half Nelson?

Props to @kenmelamed for this incredible rock armouring from five years ago. Still holding up and we just added a small crib box to fill the hole that formed on the exit. This trail has limited supplies as the rocks get consumed for armouring.

Digging. Riding. Livin. Grateful to move dirt with the fastest riders in the world. Looking forward to more of this once the rain soaks in again. Until then, ride your bike fast and take chances. Good luck to all our Canadian Downhill racers as they head over to Europe.

Part 2 - This exposed root ball was getting badly eroded from people riding around the feature. We spent a couple days boxing in rock and building this retaining wall to help protect both the tree and the main line. Curious to see how this one ages over the next few seasons. Hoping the moss works its magic and blends it back into the forest. Will riders respect the original attempt to create a feature out of a rootball once work like this goes in?

Part one - Robust tread, this trail has seen decades of hard work. So much effort has gone into keeping this classic riding well over the years. Thanks to all those that came before us and we are grateful for Metros commitment to preserving this North Shore Jewel.
