Comments SEND and I’ll DM you the link to all my drugstore faves. You don’t need to spend a fortune to take care of your skin well. Some of the most effective formulas are sitting right at the drugstore, and I reach for them often because they focus on what actually matters: barrier support, sun protection, gentle repair, and ingredients with real data behind them. There are so many great options, I’ll keep sharing ones I love as I find them!

At 63, I’m more intentional than ever about what I put into my body. It’s not about taking everything, it’s about taking what’s right for your body, at the right time, and in the right amounts. Work with a knowledgeable doctor who can help you personalize your supplement routine and adjust it as your needs change. Your health is an investment, make it one that pays off in every decade of life 💜

After decades in practice, I’ve learned that small, consistent treatments layered with strong skincare, nutrition, and movement make the biggest difference over time. There isn’t one magic procedure and there’s no fixed schedule that works for everyone. The goal is to adjust as your face and body change, support collagen and muscle health, and keep everything in balance so you still look like yourself, just rested and well cared for.

I just had to share this because it made my day😊 This is your reminder: The neck is one of the first places age shows! Apply sunscreen and skincare to your neck daily. Your skin in twenty years will reflect exactly what you do today.

As a dermatologist, I think there’s value in being transparent about my personal treatements because what I choose for myself reflects exactly what I’d recommend to a patient at the same stage of life. My goal is skin that continues to function well, age gradually, and look like me, just consistently at its best.

💬 Comment 594 to listen to the full episode. Skin changes rapidly during perimenopause and menopause, and most women are not told why. In Episode 594, I sit down with board-certified dermatologist @drdorisday to discuss collagen loss, inflammaging, the skin microbiome, fillers, lasers, retinols, and what actually matters for midlife skin health. We also explore facial balance, metabolic health, hydration, and why simplifying your routine can sometimes be more powerful than adding more products. In this episode, you will learn: ✅ Why collagen declines so quickly during menopause ✅ The skin changes women notice in early perimenopause ✅ How hydration, sleep, and nutrition impact visible aging ✅ The role of inflammation and blood sugar in skin aging ✅ Why facial balance matters more than erasing every wrinkle ✅ How fillers can create unnatural results when overused ✅ How lasers, microneedling, PRF, and recovery protocols support collagen ✅ Why sun protection remains foundational If your skin feels different in midlife, this conversation explains the physiology behind it. 🎓 CEUs are available via SapienCE. Link in bio.

My biggest piece of advice is to create rituals that are doable and that you can stick to. Consistency is key when it comes to your skin and health.

Hair loss is one of the most treatable conditions in dermatology and one of the most undertreated, simply because people delay the conversation. The options available now are significant, they can be combined, and more are coming. But they work best when started early, before the loss compounds. If you’re noticing changes, see a dermatologist who specializes in hair. The sooner you do, the more you have to work with.

Filler doesn’t always stay the same after it’s injected. Over time, as it breaks down, it can absorb water from the surrounding area, cause swelling, and even disrupt lymphatic flow. Dissolving and then starting over is sometimes needed for best results. Watch to the end for my tips for lasting results.

“Natural” and “clean” are big buzz words for skincare and makeup, but some of the most irritating reactions I see in my practice come from products marketed as them. An ingredient derived from a plant is still a chemical compound and without safety and efficacy data behind it, there’s no way to know how your skin will actually respond to it. Remember, poison ivy is natural, definitely not good for your skin!

Thirty years of dermatology has taught me that great skin is all about understanding what your skin ACTUALLY needs and giving it that consistently.
