This performance was a full circle moment for me. When I was first navigating both queer and desi identities as a teenager, I made a playlist with queer south Asian artists. This playlist was sacred to me, it showed me that other ppl like me existed, and could live beautiful lives full of joy and community.
Today, I wish I I could tell my 17 year old self that in 5 years time, I’d be performing on the same stage and be in community with many of these amazing artists on my playlist. This performance meant so much to me, and I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity.
