What an incredibly unforgettable morning, hot air ballooning over Teotihuacan. We spent most of our time in Mexico City learning about the complex and ancient histories of the pre-hispanic indigenous people of the region, so capping off this phase of our trip with a sunrise balloon over such a significant archeological site was a breathtaking experience.

I've been reflecting a lot lately about the gift of purpose that parenting provides. That is to say, when a young person relies on you, it offers you an opportunity to zoom out and realize how structural we are to one another. When I support my son as he grows, he learns to support me right back. We are not only training young people to be set free into the world, we are training ourselves for that inevitable moment when they will someday be more capable than we are. As Desi left childhood behind this year, we're started to get a glimpse of the man he will yet become. I'm very thankful that he's a person of deep substance and has a drive to do good. I'm just not sure I could be any prouder of him - and that is truly a wonderful gift.
