Who remembers this Toolroom classic? 🎵
Mark Knight & D.Ramirez V Underworld - Downpipe
Some records never leave the dancefloor.
A true Toolroom gem, Downpipe still hits with the same raw energy that made it an instant underground weapon. Dark, driving and unmistakably ahead of its time - this one helped shape an era of late-night club culture.
Karl Hyde’s delivery of his shadowy spoken-word lyricism cuts through the record, giving Downpipe a tension and atmosphere that still send shivers on the dance-floor today.
Immediately being crowned ‘Essential New Tune’ on Radio1 by Pete Tong back in 2009, as well as inciting an instant reaction in clubland from the first stab - Downpipe cemented itself as a Toolroom classic instant and a defining moment for the label.
To celebrate the record’s legacy, we’re giving away three signed dubs 💿
For the chance to win, simply comment on this post what Downpipe means to you and we’ll select three lucky winners.

Now the question is, should we repress this Toolroom classic?
Fast bass. No overthinking. No stopping.
Built this in seconds using Operator, then used Sting to instantly generate a pattern and keep the momentum going.
No preset scrolling. No second-guessing.
Just decisions that move the track forward.
This is the core idea behind my new course:
remove friction, reduce choices, and let the track build itself.
The goal isn’t perfection — it’s reaching a complete creative moment without breaking flow.

You don’t need more sounds. You need fewer decisions.
In this clip I’m using Ableton Live with a simple vocal and Sting to generate ideas fast — no digging, no overthinking.
This is what happens when you remove friction: ideas show up quicker, and more importantly… they keep moving.
That’s the focus of my new course: building tracks by limiting your choices so creativity stays uninterrupted.
Because finishing music isn’t about doing more — it’s about getting out of your own way.
Separate your creative days from your production days 🎶
One day: no pressure, just ideas, experiments, chaos.
Next day: refine, cut, shape, build.
Trying to do both at once? That’s where things get muddy.
This simple switch changed everything for me — maybe it’ll do the same for you.
