It’s been a busy start to the year for Alasdair Malloy (@dralmal ) who brought his spooktacular to the @hksinfonietta earlier this month (photos courtesy of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta). While in Hong Kong, Alasdair and Pip Malloy (@pjmviola ) also led workshops for the @hkcso96 , leading to a massed performance of his own specially curated and multi-ability arrangements, with 200 children on stage! Of course, Alasdair is a regular guest with orchestras in the UK too - and this Sunday he brought his Family Film Favourites programme to the @oxfordphilharmonicorchestra

What an unforgettable kickoff to the Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra’s 30th anniversary! “HKCSO x Alasdair Malloy: Let’s Play 童樂派對” was an absolute triumph on January 1st at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall—a magical family concert led brilliantly by the charismatic Alasdair Malloy and concert concept designer Pip Worn. Young musicians from HKCSO’s various ensembles, led by principal conductor Jeff Leung, Anand Li, Jeffrey Sit, and Tommy Yeung, joined forces with the Ying Wa Primary School Senior Wind Band, led by Eric Ng. They delivered vibrant solo sets and a breathtaking grand finale with over 200 young performers massed on stage, performed specially arranged Delibes and Holst’s epic Mars—pure energy, joy, and childhood wonder exploding on stage! The hall was buzzing with excited families, interactive fun, and the sheer power of music bringing generations together. A massive success that perfectly celebrated 30 years of nurturing young talent! “HKCSO x Alasdair Malloy: Let’s Play 童樂派對” 1 JAN 2026, 3pm Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre Photo: @kai1019 @henrysing @wong_chiuyu
