What an incredible day at the 10th Annual Howard County Chamber Women’s Leadership Conference! I had the amazing opportunity to be the morning and afternoon mindfulness speaker, leading a session on integrating mindfulness and Traditional Chinese Medicine with leadership principles.
The entire day was packed with gems – inspiring keynotes from Jennifer Nickoles, President of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and Rushia Brown, President of the Women’s Professional Basketball Alumni Association, insightful panel discussions, and powerful messages of empowerment and diversity from all the amazing female speakers.
Huge thanks to Linda Ostovitz, Kristi Simon, and the phenomenal planning staff for putting together such a phenomenal event! Happy Mother’s Day to my mother… and to the long line of beautiful, strong, fierce women whose prayers, sacrifices, wisdom, and spirit still live through me.
I honor the women who carried families, carried traditions, carried pain, carried power… and still found a way to love deeply and stand tall.
The Gullah Geechee blood that courses through my veins is more than ancestry — it is memory, intuition, rhythm, survival, magic, and spirit. It is the whisper of the ancestors, the opening of portals between worlds, the knowing that there is more beyond what the eyes can see.
My gifts did not begin with me.
They were cultivated through generations.
Through prayer circles. Through dreams. Through intuition. Through resilience. Through sacred knowing.
I come from women who knew how to survive storms while still creating beauty. Women who turned pain into power and spirit into legacy.
We not new to this… we TRUE to this.
Today I honor every mother, grandmother, auntie, elder, and ancestral mother who paved the way for us to walk boldly in our purpose.

In order for a new life to begin…
the old one must die. 🌱
Not the soul.
Not the essence.
But the patterns.
The fear.
The exhaustion.
The over-functioning.
The identities we built just to survive.
Spring in Traditional Chinese Medicine is the season of rebirth, vision, movement, and becoming. The Wood Element — governed by the Liver and Gallbladder systems — asks us to release stagnation so new life can emerge.
This is why transformation can feel uncomfortable.
The old version of you is being composted.
In TCM, the Hun (Ethereal Soul) resides within the Liver system and is connected to vision, purpose, creativity, direction, and the blueprint of your destiny. During the quiet hours of the night, the Hun is believed to travel beyond the physical body, reconnecting with Spirit and returning with insight about the path forward.
But clarity cannot fully arrive when the system is cluttered with unresolved emotions, outdated narratives, suppressed truth, or stagnant Qi.
This season is asking:
✨ What must be released?
✨ What mindset can no longer come with you?
✨ What habits are blocking your next evolution?
✨ What truth have you outgrown pretending not to know?
Detoxification is not just physical.
It is emotional.
Energetic.
Spiritual.
Mental.
Sometimes healing looks like grieving.
Sometimes growth looks like surrender.
Sometimes rebirth looks like letting the old self fall away with grace.
The new blueprint is already within you.
Your job is to clear enough space to hear it.
New energy.
New purpose.
New plan.
New life.

Together, we explored emotional resilience and grief—two deeply human experiences that shape how we lead, serve, and show up in community.
What made this space so powerful was the willingness of staff to lean in with openness, honesty, and courage. Through guided reflection and dialogue, we honored grief not as something to suppress—but as something that, when acknowledged, can transform into clarity, connection, and renewed purpose.

There’s something incredibly powerful about stepping out of the treatment room and onto a larger stage—bringing this beautiful system of healing into organizations, communities, and spaces that are ready for transformation.
For over a decade, my rhythm was rooted in hands-on care. Now, I’m in a season of recalibration—resetting my days, reorganizing my energy, and redefining what service looks like beyond four walls.
It’s exciting. It’s unfamiliar. And it’s expanding me.
I’m learning to navigate this new landscape of virtual learning, consulting, and speaking—without the safety net of a brick-and-mortar space. This is new territory… but it’s also where growth lives.

In TCM, the Liver and Gallbladder are the primary organs responsible for:

The Gallbladder is known as “The Official of Decision”—it executes what the Liver envisions.
Now here’s where it gets interesting…
Alcohol directly impacts the Liver system.
When the Liver is disrupted, we often see:

— Lack of clarity in decision-making
And when the Gallbladder is affected?
— Indecision OR reckless decisions
— Acting without alignment or foresight
This isn’t about excuses.
