If your cat is drinking more than usual, it’s not something to brush off.
Common causes: • Kidney disease (very common, especially >7 yrs) • Diabetes • Hyperthyroidism • Urinary issues • Liver disease • Certain medications
What to watch for: • Empty water bowls faster than usual • Drinking from unusual places (sinks, glasses, showers) • Increased urination / larger clumps in litter box • Weight loss, appetite changes, vomiting
What to do: • Monitor changes over a few days (not weeks) • Don’t restrict water • Schedule a vet visit, this is usually diagnosed with basic bloodwork + urine testing
Early detection makes a huge difference with most of these conditions.
