These past five years have been more amazing than I could’ve ever imagined. And I would’ve never thought that this Black boy from a rural, low-income community in Mississippi, would stand before anyone today at the age of 26, as the FIRST African American man to earn a Ph.D in Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington. My journey has been a testament of endurance, so much hard work, and above all else, faith. I love learning, teaching, mentoring, and and innovating! And because of this experience, I’ve been able to connect parts of life with passions in a way that that I didn’t know was possible.
I’m so damn proud of me and I hope my community is too.
