Sometimes the best episodes happen by accident. Sam and I were filming for VetFolio and realized we had the rare chance to sit down in person, so we did. We talked about life, work, parenthood, and how to love this profession without losing yourself in it. It felt good to have the conversation, and I hope it feels good to listen. I got to sit down again with one of my favorite people to podcast with, Dr. Tannetje Crocker — and this time we’re diving into ER essentials for the general practitioner. We took a case-based approach with a focus on triage and in-house stabilization and when to recommend referral to your friendly neighborhood ER. Listen to the podcast by clicking the link in my bio!

Got these sweet new books recently… 👀 In case there are others out there who can relate to the experience of "pushing harder, masking better and performing at all costs" in a system that feels like it wasn't build for them. Thank you Ron Sosa for all of the work you are doing to create inclusivity and sustainability in the veterinary profession!

It seems feeling like “enough” involves significantly less jaw tension. Who knew my default setting was “terrified squirrel?” #vetfolio #veterinarymedicine

If one animal is better off because of you today… it’s a great day. 🐾💙 This World Veterinary Day, we’re celebrating the impact you make—one patient, one moment, one act of care at a time. You don’t have to save the world to change it. Sometimes, helping just one animal is everything. Thank you for all that you do for animals, their people, and this profession. You truly make a difference. #WorldVeterinaryDay #VetMed #VeterinaryLife

Happy CSR Week to all the heroes of the front desk. Especially this one who knows the only way to save me from my own tangents is to open the exam room door with a look that says "Hey bestie. Love you, mean it. Now wrap it up!" Couldn’t do this without you. Literally. We would never leave. #CSRWeek #vetlife #vetmed

I have so much respect for client service representatives, more and more with each passing year. They're managing the needs of clients, doctors and technicians all at once. Being the bridge connecting these groups means that when any one group gets upset, CSRs are the first to feel it. On top of that, they're navigating tough judgment calls. Pass a question to a veterinary technician or doctor unnecessarily, and it creates an interruption. Miss something that needs another set of eyes, and there are real consequences. It's a fine line with a lot riding on it, and I have huge appreciation for those who walk it and walk it well. Happy CSR week!

Curious about central lines, PICC lines, and sampling catheters in practice? 🐾 Certified veterinary technician Laura Waller joined me to share her experience using these techniques. We discussed the differences between line types, when and how to use them, and strategies for managing patients moving between emergency and general practice. And if you enjoy this talk, be sure to check out Laura's article on the same topic in Today's Veterinary Nurse! 🎧 Full episode is available by clicking the link in my bio!

This episode was an opportunity for a vet school throwback! I talked to Dr. Julie Wuerz and Camille Kelly about the UF blood donor program and considerations that can help all of us be ready if we encounter a patient in need of a blood transfusion. We talked about different types of blood products available, how to source these products if we need them, and the evolution of the blood donor program at UF that helps support many of our patients in North Central Florida.
