Happy MLK day!
In 2016, I took some quick portraits while accompanying students from the Next Generation Leaders program to Washington, DC. The program, a collaboration between the nonprofit @seocareer and UBS Bank, brought a select group of students to meet members of President Obama’s administration at the White House.
Witnessing these first-generation Black college students—uplifted by the sacrifices of their elders and ancestors—being celebrated in a place that had historically sought to oppress them was truly magical.
Despite the other “event” occurring today and the challenges we continue to face, I am reminded of our strength. We come from resilient people, and we will continue to thrive, no matter what.
