I was meeting friends here to stay the night before we left for a river trip the next morning. I arrived earlier than them so I filled the time doing one of my favorite things - exploring a new place by myself.
What I noticed was that these smaller towns in NZ are still using sodium vapour street lights which emit a lovely soft and warm glow unlike the cold LED lamps in bigger cities.
These lights lend themselves so well to street photography and I was able to capture these frames on my iPhone along with th ambient sounds of crickets and people. đ
In these spaces I love experiencing the architecture just as much as the art and treasures housed inside it. Te Papaâs design is one of my favourites even though it was voted Wellingtonâs least liked building in 2007 đĽ˛
