Finally installed my piece "The Walls We Built" at The California Botanic Garden for Clayfornia. I have to thank everyone at @studioamoca especially @heidikreitchet for even selecting me to be a part of this show in the first place! I also have to thank @betoreynoso@alolalia@deinesstudio@mtsac_ceramics for all their help in helping orchestrate and fire this piece in the first place. Thank you to @cbuice11 for helping me load and carry this! And finally thank you to both of my incredible parents, my wonderful sister and all the rest of my awesome family and friends who have supported my dream from day 1. None of this would be possible without all the wonderful people in my life. Please, if you have some free time on your hands, please go out and support The Clayfornia show at The California Botanic Garden in Claremont and check out all the amazing work from all the ceramic artists participating! Some close-up shots of the lantern from the student show. This was laser cut from a few designs I made at @cerritoscollegewoodworking for the Digital Fabrication Class. I used black walnut veneer with Ginwashi paper backing to soften the light, as well as threaded brass brackets to hold everything in place.

This is the culmination and conclusion of The Portfolio Development and Critique class at Pasadena City College. It was taught by the amazing Jeff Cain, whom I learned so much from and one of the few teachers I've met that pushed every student to do better all the while maintaining that student's identity and not trying to change it. It was great to see all the other incredibly talented student's work which was equally inspiring and thought provoking.
The wood that was used was bookmatched Black Walnut which was also lasercut out of veneer from several of my designs to make the lantern. All wood was milled at @cerritoscollegewoodworking where I've been learning so much about woodworking. I used amador stoneware clay from @lagunaclay for the urns, which are meant to represent the death of an old self. Many thanks to all of the technicians at @the.pottery.studio for firing these.
This entire body of work is part of an evolving idea centered around sobriety and recovery, which has helped me find new purpose and peace in my life. I want to thank my mother, sister, girlfriend who showed me patience and unconditional love during this time. Also my Dad and Tio David who have passed on but are always in my thoughts.

These are some urns from my solo show: "Anatomy Of An Addict" @thelittlegallery.sb
The first one was an urn that held my father's ashes for about a year. It was really impactful and special to have a memory of him at the show. The other Urns represent the death of my addiction and symbolize the new life I have now found in Alcoholics Anonymous.
