This project came to life when I ran into a former coworker 6 years later. Both of us were on new professional journeys, but the arts became the bridge that got us talking. Several meetings later, and we were filming.
BEYOND THE BEAT tells the story of YASA, a Haitian-born artist who relocated to the U.S. at 15 as an earthquake refugee. His journey led to a transformative moment in Miami that ignited his passion for electronic music. Through every track, YASA blends the rhythms of his heritage with the influences he’s gathered, creating a sound that’s raw, emotional, and deeply personal. This is his story—where music becomes more than just sound.
Honestly, putting in the time and resources without knowing the return felt uncertain but my priorities were clear. The passion and the story were worth it. Big thank you to the whole crew for believing in this with me and absolutely killing their parts.

The Desire Foundation is a volunteer driven nonprofit in Orlando making a real impact through food security, health and wellness, and community empowerment. From ensuring families have access to nutritious food to creating pathways for healthier living, their work is rooted in dignity, care, and action.
