Last month, we began a series of 3 Health and Safety workshops in Ghana, Thailand, and Viet Nam for our collectors. At the Kpone Landfill in Accra, Ghana, collectors learned to identify and properly use first aid items—antibiotic cream, gauze, bandages, gloves, and more—for common landfill injuries like cuts and puncture wounds. Beyond building skills, every participant now has their own first aid kit and is better prepared for emergencies. The session brought together both collectors and aggregators, and started with strong engagement—questions, discussion, and active participation throughout. Next up, workplace safety. Beyond the instructional component, we are also working to improve income. In collaboration with our partners, who are local aggregators of materials - PET, HDPE, E-waste, and more, we have been able to increase the amount of income collectors make by improving access to cash flow and market. What an incredible weekend at the Pittsburgh Marathon! 💛 🖤 This year, 10 runners participated in support of WORK: • 3 marathoners • 4 half marathoners • 2 5K runners • 1 Kids Marathon participant We also hosted a fluid aid station at Mile 18.8, where nearly 100 volunteers showed up to cheer on athletes and hand out essentials like water and Nuun hydration at a critical point in the race. A huge thank you to our sponsors and partners who helped make the weekend possible: Rotary Club of Pittsburgh, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, NuGo, LMNT, GU, and Electrolit.
