Two weekends ago at our second annual Roots of Power conference, Down Homies came together 300 strong from across rural North Carolina. We celebrated wins, sharpened our skills, and developed our plans for winning the future our families and communities deserve. In coming months we’ll take what we learned and put it to work—organizing in our communities, growing our base, and getting ready for the critical fights ahead of us. We set our sights toward building the multiracial, working-class power we need to win lasting change. The fights ahead are big, but so is our determination. Join us in building multiracial rural and working class power by clicking the link in bio.

North Carolina, who’s hungry?? Today’s Special: The MAGA Congressional Budget Platter 🌭 A poorly-conceived dish where our essential services are the first ingredient to be cut. 🥗 Generously seasoned with partisan politics and a confusing medley of culture war toppings. 🥪 Served on a plate of billionaire tax cuts, guaranteeing a bitter aftertaste for years to come.   Warning: Many will not survive after this meal, but you can prevent this by clicking the link below. dhnc.info/StoptheBillionaireBuyout

Working people in North Carolina know better than anyone what our communities need. From the mountains to the coast, it’s time we decide who represents us. When you become a Down Home North Carolina member, you aren’t just joining an organization—you’re claiming your seat at the table. Our power comes from our members, and that includes the power to vote on our 2026 endorsements. Link in bio!

Data centers are being proposed all over North Carolina from the mountains to the coast. These facilities use up a ton of our local water and power, which can end up hiking up utility bills for the rest of us. Plus, they hardly bring any long-term jobs to the area. Instead, we’re left with a constant industrial hum that ruins the peace and quiet of our neighborhoods. We shouldn't have to deal with higher costs and non-stop noise just to power big tech's servers. Many small towns have already passed moratoriums against them. Find out if a data center is being proposed in your community.

While Duke Energy pulls in record profits, working families struggle to afford both food and electricity. How has your bill changed? Share your experience in the comments and sign our petition to end this corporate greed! dhnc.info/stopthegrab

North Carolinians have reached their limit with skyrocketing power bills. Duke Energy is now gunning for another 18% rate increase on the heels of a 22% jump since 2020. The pushback is massive. From Rocky Mount to Lumberton, Raleigh to Charlotte, people are showing up in record numbers at commission hearings to say enough is enough. It’s time to take action and stop the hikes!

Charlotte teacher Jennifer Briggs was among thousands of North Carolinians who marched outside the North Carolina General Assembly in support of public schools. ⁣ ⁣ Briggs told Cardinal & Pine that for many teachers, it is no longer possible to just get by on an educator’s salary.⁣ ⁣ Currently, North Carolina ranks 46th in the US for teacher pay.
