WOW! JOHN of JOHN is in the world. And I’m so glad I get to finally share the wonderful Oprah news, because honestly the secret has been killing me! The phone call from Oprah telling me she loved my book and wanted to share it with her book club was one of the greatest, and most surreal, calls of my life! Oprah’s was the first book club I saw on television, the first to say that books are for everyone and that everyone is welcome. For three decades she has been bringing writers and readers together and I am really humbled to become a small part of that legacy. John of John is the 123rd pick for Oprah’s Book Club (which feels like an auspicious number to me!) I’m also proud that this is the first ever Scottish book selected. It’s always exciting to see Scottish literature on the global stage. The hope is that it stokes a little curiosity in readers and encourages them to read on and to learn more about Scotland and our long history of incredible books. So HUGE thank you to @oprah and to @gayleking and to the entire @oprahsbookclub team especially Joseph, Brad and the wonderful Leigh.
