We agonized over this decision, but the costs and upkeep unfortunately outweigh the benefits.
The city does not do enough to support small business pedestrian culture in Toronto imo… The overwhelming filth, litter, property abuse, and anti-beautification are becoming a real bummer. A little street vacuuming here and there, primarily of the bike lane, just doesn’t cut it. Anthony Bourdain was not wrong when he said that Toronto has a great food scene, but is quite an ugly city.
We hope you aren’t too dismayed by our decision. Car culture wins again!
There will never be a good time to share this, but here goes nothin! We said farewell to our sweet boy, Wally, just before Easter. He was over 15 and persisted for 4.5 years beyond any medical expectation (didn’t want to leave the party).
I don’t feel like there are adequate human words to express the depth of our relationship(s), or how much he meant to us all, or what we’ve been through together — but I owe it to him and his fan club to share this news.
He departed this world as peacefully as he could have (however agonizing it was for us), at home, surrounded by his whole family, and was followed seconds later by a literal bang of thunder. How rare and amazing for a thunderous roar to occur on March 31st!!? Makes perfect sense if you knew him.
