I secured another @usacycling Masters Time Trial National Championship today. A lot of work went into this one. It was made extra special by my parents making the long distance trip to see me race (and brave the heat π₯΅) and by having the national championships right in my back yard. Truly unforgettable. Not to go unnoticed is the cheesehead and kringle to make sure you know you are in Wisconsin π§.
Tosa resident Jadon Jaeger of @methodstowinningraceteam seized the moment and stole the win during todayβs Masters 40/50+ race in @explorejanesvillewi ! π₯

6 weeks and 2 days ago I had an accident (non cycling related, no good story) that resulted in a fractured patella. Yesterday the doctor informed me that the leg brace is no longer needed and I can gradually return to normal activity over the next couple of weeks. In that time period in between I threw myself a 2 week pity party, did a lot of one-legged riding, started physical therapy, and cleaned every last speck of dirt off of every bike in the house. Special thanks to @mkekim_smile for putting up with me and helping me get through this challenging time. I was going to host a burning of the brace party but was informed that that might be bad luck.
You probably can't tell by the pictures but these are the result of a hit and run crash I was the victim of this past Wednesday just a few miles from home on a road I've ridden on hundreds of times. A car pulled out in front of me, turning left off of a side street and either didn't see me, saw me and misjudged my speed, or saw me and didn't care. I don't know exactly what happened in the moment as I was knocked out briefly after my head and helmet hit the road. Ironically I remember being concerned about the car next to the car that hit me that was trying to make a right turn from the side street, worrying that they would turn out but couldn't see me because their view was blocked by the left-turning car. Thank you to the other drivers and pedestrians that helped me off the road and called the police.
Miraculously I came away with no broken bones, very minor bumps and bruises, a mild concussion, and just a very very sore body. Even though I hate this expression, it could have been worse (way worse).
Be careful out there.
Took home the bronze medal in the @usacycling Masters 40-44 road race national championship.
A break of five formed on the 3rd of 4 laps and eventually four of us rolled it to the finish. For a brief moment I thought I had the win but with 50 meters to go I got passed and sat up and got pipped at the line for 3rd.
I'm happy with my performance but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.
Thank you to my #1 fan @mkekim_smile for the perfect bottle-ice sock combo hand ups each lap. Definitely needed those in the sweltering Georgia heat and humidity.

The Hill never disappoints at the @gatewaycupstl . It was a very active race and finally with 4 laps to go I was able to escape and hold off the field to win for the second year in a row. Thanks to my teammates @eric.r.anderson , @theb_hill , and @charonlsmith for shutting down the pack once I got away. πͺ

It was a successful title defense for me in the USA Cycling Masters Time Trial National Championship. The course was very testing for a TT with conditions made more difficult with the heat of Georgia. Happy to say I also set the fastest time of day. Thank you to my amazing wife, Kimberly, for helping me with all the little details and being my biggest supporter. It takes a village to get here and compete successfully.
2 for 2 at the @tourofamericasdairyland Mount Pleasant Momentum! This place treats me well! Nice to catch up with old teammates and friends and looking forward to racing with a full @methodstowinningraceteam squad the next 4 days.
