Yesterday afternoon our friend and fellow coworker, Orlando, was kidnapped by ICE and taken into custody. We are still gathering details and figuring things out, but if you would like to help his family out with us during this nightmare, we are going to post a link in our bio.
If you need a bite to eat, we gotcha, just ask the bartender for a Marz Burger and grab a burger, no questions asked.
Times are crazy, well not even crazy, absolutely fucked is probably a better description. Until the unfortunate powers that be figure it out, we all gotta get one anothers’ backs. @magnapdx next door is also offering a meal to those in need. So yeah, let’s help one another get through all of this.

Saturday, May 2nd! Our next VHS and Vendor market is followed up by our Halfway to Halloween party. We’re giving away $100 again for the best costume and some prizes for the runners up. @rob_drokker will be in the booth and we will also have our Monster Squad Olympics to go along with it (in slide 2). Come show us your best Werewolfs Howl or Witches Cackle, get your face painted if you don’t have a costume, or just do a test run for the big party in October!

Honestly, stoked, what started off as a fun idea to have 2 friends dress as cheap knockoff Kurt Russells spiraled into a pretty big event. Seriously awesome that @hollywoodtheatr was even able to get Kurt to come to town. We just thought this would be a fun alternative for the people who couldn’t get in, but still love Kurt. Our friends over at @defensefundpdx are fundraising again and we figured we would chip in the best we can to help out. All month we will be slinging this Lychee & Hibiscus Sparkling Lemonade. $2 from each one will go over to them at the end of the month. We’d be stoked to write them a big ass check, so come grab one!

First things first! Our next VHS and Vendor market will be the same day, Saturday May 2nd. As always, we are gonna fill the bar with a ton of rad tapes and some of the best local vendors in the city. Honestly love these markets, tons of cool stuff at each one, come check it out!
After that! We have wanted to do this for years. We are throwing a Halfway To Halloween party that night! The world is a mess and we feel like dressing up for a night and throwing a party, so why not… $100 will go to the best costume of the night. @rob_drokker will be the vibe commander behind the booth. We will also be doing our FIRST ANNUAL Monster Squad Olympics. What’s that, you ask? We will have 6 different events. The winner of each competition will take home a gift certificate from one of our favorite local spots and a variety of other prizes. We will announce more as it gets closer, but for now, get limbered up for the Mummy Wrap Relay and practice howling at the moon and get down here on May 2nd!
February fake out gave us a little taste of spring so we have decided to open a little earlier on SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS for LUNCH! Starting this weekend March 7, we will be opening at noon and running a lunch menu on top of our regular menu..here is Skelly with a BACON EGG & CHEESE on a grand central ciabatta and a CROQUE MADAME on grand central sourdough. We will also have some tasty vegan and vegetarian items…Come check out what else is on our lunch menu this weekend!

If you’re looking for a date for Valentines weekend or want to auction off an hour of your time to donate to @pirc_oregon , as part of our Valentines Market, we are having our first shitty Bachelorx Auction? Slide 2 breaks down the rules. This is all in good fun and honestly just being done to make new friendships. If however, you all would like to hang out afterwards, dessert and a movie will be on us. So come down, pick up a few tapes and a date on Saturday night. Swap starts 6pm, Bachelorx auction starts at 9. @hels.pyre will be providing the soundtrack starting at 8pm
So, we talked this over with staff and we have decided that we will be closed tomorrow in solidarity with those taking a stand against ICE and everything awful currently flooding our feeds.
What is going on out there isn’t normal, it isn’t right and it needs to change. Maybe a small bar in SE Portland closing for a night won’t make a massive change, maybe it will, what do we know, we are just that small bar. Being closed on a Friday will suck, but this already hit us close to home, our friend and coworker Orlando is STILL waiting on a court date and has been separated from his family for almost 3 months. Like we said, something needs to change and that all has to start somewhere, right?
We will be open on Saturday and back at it. We also would like to point out that our partners in crime @clinton_street_theater are showing Mississippi Masala and donating the proceeds to the PIRC. We have a few more cool announcements coming soon too.
So let’s take a day tomorrow and collect our thoughts and figure out what can be done to right this ship. We love all of our neighbors. We will see you on Saturday. Or if you wanna get your fill of cheap PBR’s and Burgers, we are open normal hours tonight!
