Spotlight Tuesday
when was the first thought process of this ep form?
“ I would say the 1st thought or any thought had to do with what Feleksounds stood for. One of the reason feleksounds exist is to transform contemporary Ethiopian music. We observed a stagnation, where much of the music, despite our vibrant culture, had become quite generic. Our mission was to bring a fresh sound and look, proving that music can always evolve. By consistently pushing creative boundaries, we aim to set a higher benchmark and spark inspiration within the industry”

How did you get into this field?
“I’ve had a love for beats since I was young, but I really got into making music by accident found FL Studio on a random flash drive one day. Curiosity took over, and that spark turned into a journey of endless creativity. My mindset ever since was If I’m not gonna do it, who will?”
@nerlivmusic
Do you think this ep is a peak point in the revolution of the Ethiopian music industry?
“Yes it peak. People forgot music is the most powerful form of artistic medium. It has the power to move people, than any art form and yet people forgot what it’s about and just made it for clubbing. Forgot what it’s for I know this EP is peak in everyway”

How was the process of making the visuals?
“After receiving the songs from nerliv I started thinking of creating a story that connects and also give the ep a team, that is when I stumbled on a theory called duality, which i based the whole story of the character on. After writing the script, I started creating shot after shot with different references from different places, finally creating something hopefully, which is new”

what does this ep mean to you as a creative director in this ep?
This project means everything to me. It showed what’s possible when you work with people who truly share your vision. We faced challenges, but never gave up. As Creative Director, it was powerful to see my ideas come to life and contribute across the board. I’m proud to be part of this new sound for modern Ethiopian music.
