A few of my favourite bits n trax from my latest mix on the cloud:
1. Sub Basics - Rogue (such an unexpected release from ATW but really heavy into this kinda sound!)
2. Olga Korol & Per Hammar- Beshket (out on Dirty Hands, really love the vibe on this one)
3. Unreleased by me 😎
4. Unreleased by me 😎
5. Wild - Situation Subterranean (on Wisdom Teeth, this one is just mindbending to me, insane sounds everywhere)
This mix isn’t per se meant for dancefloors, it’s just me experimenting with new tunes I bought (shoutout bandcamp Friday). It starts off kinda familiar but keeps getting weirder and weirder.
VA 001 is out now.
What started on dance floors, in studios and across shared spaces now lives in this release. A first various artists project by YEREYERE Records, bringing together the extended community that has been building this platform from the ground up.
This is more than a release. It marks a new chapter. From events and festivals to music, culture and community.
Featuring: @alexcolymusic , @topes.topes.topes , @festen.bn , @deejaysoyboy , @dot5.project , @raven__karijo , @robblackdj , @travisxallen .
Snippets from VA 001. Full project out now!
So this is a different kind of post. I want to give some backstory to my latest track Continuation (Kyle‘s Groove).
The original idea was made last year for my graduation. It was during a period where I was really digging and searching for what sound I wanted to represent as a musician and producer. I wanted to find „the sound“ so badly that I almost forgot what flow during production feels like, and I kept pushing on and on…it wasn’t a good headspace. I was slowly eating away at the thing I loved most. I got into such a bad place that I started to contemplate my continuation in music (also the original title for the track).
I made it almost as a final track, a final goodbye to production because I was so done with not being happy with what I made. I genuinely thought that after graduating I wasn’t going to continue in music the way I had since I started. Maybe do something else, study something different.
Having ADHD, my attention is limited. If I like something, I want to know everything about it. Last year, I felt like I had learned „enough“ about music (sounds weird looking back, but that’s how I felt). My interest had faded compared to when I started, and I couldn’t get into the headspace to find that spark again.
My musical output still remains relatively low, which I find very sad. I’d love to be able to make even two tracks a day. Social media emphasizes this even more. There are so many artists, producers, and musicians who are much better than I am and who I look up to, almost idolize.
However, recently I’ve started to accept that this is how it is right now. I still absolutely love music, making it, listening to it, dancing to it, and accepting how I engage with this art form has given me more space for new ideas. I’ve stopped dissecting it and accepted that art doesn’t always make sense.
I will always love music and find it the most fascinating thing in the universe. If I ever talk about quitting again, I know I’ll come back to it anyway.
That’s what this track stands for, my continuation.
