attended a screening for @homeboundthefilm this past weekend and it left me laughing, crying, and ultimately reflecting. if you know me, you know ive talked a decent amount about being a woman from the dalit community and so this movie pulled at my heart strings for many obvious reasons. it is based on a true story about a friendship that highlights themes like caste, ego, love, the patriarchy, dr. ambedkar & the desire to provide a better life for your loved ones. after the screening - @neeraj.ghaywan said something that was a great reminder for me which was something along the lines of: let’s put the shame on the oppressor, not the oppressed.
i don’t recommend movies often but definitely go check out homebound out on netflix on nov 21 🤍
