I was incredibly honored to MC the unveiling of the brilliant new mural to commemorate the Memphis 13/Gordon 4 today at Gordon Achievement Academy! It was phenomenal to gather into one space the upstanders who bravely integrated Gordon Elementary, 62 years ago today. They were celebrated through the powerful work of Jamond Bullock/Alivepaint, the painter/muralist, Daniel Kiel, the documentarian/historian, Ekpe, African drummer, and so many community leaders, assembled by Dwania Kyles, who leads the Memphis 13 Foundation. This was a beautiful event and I am grateful to have been a part of it. 💙
He was the very best!! I had him from when he was 8 weeks to nearly 13 yrs. So grateful for all the time we had with our sweet Ollie! Glad he is at peace now. 🐾💞🖤🌈
