Acaba de publicarse en Science la nueva especie 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙨𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙪𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙨, un espinosaurio del Cretácico de Niger, la primera de las sorpresas que nos tenía preparada la #NigerEXP2022
La portadaza de Science es paleoarte de @playerdng y en las fotos podéis vernos emocionados ante semejante hallazgo. En la primer foto, cuando apareció el primer fragmento de cráneo y algunos derramamos lágrimas. En la segunda, el apechusque de haber encontrado LA CRESTA. En la tercera, se nos hacía de noche peinando el desierto localizando huesos, huesos y más huesos.

For today’s #fossilfriday since I’ve seen some confusion regarding the size of the skull of #Spinosaurus mirabilis and #Suchomimus here I show both the reconstructed skull of the holotype of S. mirabilis and a composite skull of S. tenerensis including several specimens scaled to the largest skull size known (that published in Sereno et al 1998).
The human skull by the way is my own, taken from a CT scan I got last year.

Found this beautiful male goat skull (skeleton was close by scavenged and disarticulated). The keratin sheaths are heavier than they look, and much taller than the bony core.

When I was 12 years old my mother got me a very similar Jurassic Park 3 t shirt which I also wore on the very first day I participated in a paleontological excavation four years later.
