The official poster for Call of the Jab. This film began with a simple question about my family’s past. That question turned into a journey back to Grenada with my father, uncovering stories about our culture, our ancestors, and the folklore that shaped the island. Grateful to finally share the poster with you all. Poster by @mikniv #CallOfTheJab #Fatherson #Grenada #CaribbeanHeritage #Documentary

This year, I learned how to film underwater. 🌊 I earned my PADI license so I could film Entire sequences on the ocean floor with my underwater camera operator, Arty Daniel — no shortcuts, just preparation, trust, and hand signals. Water isn’t just a location in Call of the Jab, it’s the heart of the story. These waters carry memory, history, and our stories. We didn’t just film this story… we dove all in.

I’m proud to introduce Densil Fletcher. Born in Piedmontemps, Grenada, Densil immigrated to the United States at just 19 years old, carrying with him ambition, discipline, and a deep love for home. In the U.S., he went on to lead teams at companies like Techron, Mitsubishi, and Micross, building a life rooted in hard work and quiet leadership. Outside of work, Densil finds joy in simple pleasures: spending time with family, playing dominoes with friends, traveling—especially back to Grenada—and enjoying what he proudly calls his “breakfast of champions.” On Sundays, his house tells you everything you need to know about him: reggae, calypso, and soca blasting through the speakers, music filling every room, turning any visit into a celebration. This film begins with him—my father, my pops—and the journeys we continue to take together. #callofthejab

The first clip of this interview is here!!! 🎥 I sat down with my longtime friend and fellow filmmaker Donel Fernandes @fernandes_world for a conversation about storytelling, animation, culture, and the films we’re bringing into the world. We grew up together, and now we’re both creating work rooted in identity, imagination, and the stories that shaped us. Huge shoutout to @oxtail_anime for taking the time to talk with me, and big ups to @fullsail for helping us make this conversation possible. This is the first of a few clips from our conversation, and I can’t wait to share more. Watch the clip, drop your thoughts, and follow along for more!

Still taking this in 🥹 We had our first invite-only, private screening of Call of the Jab. I want to give a very special thanks to everyone who attended and our sponsor Zeiss for hosting, especially our reps Emily and David for making this happen. This was an incredible moment seeing this story live in a room, with people reacting, laughing, reflecting, and shedding tears. (Me 🙋🏿‍♂️) This was never just a film. It’s family. It’s a poem, it’s a portrait, it’s memory. It’s we culture rising back to the surface. 🌊🌊 We’re just getting started. 🎬 Festival submissions underway 📸 @jmwardimages

Back when it was just an idea, a camera and friends. BTS from our crowdfunding shoot, before Call of the Jab, recieved the grant, before our sponsorship with @zeisscinematography , @tribeca and @canva . A couple people believed in this story. 🫂 Appreciate everyone who helped bring this to life from day one. Call of the Jab coming summer 2026 🚀🚀 📷 @guyjphoto #BTS #CallOfTheJab #IndieFilm #Filmmaking

Growing up, I wasn’t sure if I had a grandfather… even though I had met him. Anytime my dad or his siblings spoke about their father, they called him “Uncle Dennis.” I remember thinking who is Uncle Dennis? 😆 As a kid, calling my grandfather “Uncle” confused me, and I never understood why, until I finally asked my dad. Did your family ever do something similar to this? #fatherson #familyhistory #grenada #caribbeanstories #callofthejab podcast

Pops tells the story of what life was like being thirteen during the country’s early years of independence. We talk about the political figure Maurice Bishop, the revolution, and the riots that changed the island forever. #CallOfTheJab #FatherSon #Grenada #CaribbeanHistory #Podcast

Last year, while trying to find inspo and connect the dots for my documentary, I flew home to interview my dad. But instead of a traditional interview, I filmed it like a podcast over a game of dominoes. Dominoes is my dad’s thing, and it became the perfect way to talk about his childhood, Grenada, and the stories that shaped our family. The best part? I got to work with family too, bringing in relatives from Orlando media scene to help on camera and behind the scenes. Sometimes the best stories start at home.
