Today we lost a real angel on this earth.
Shirley Raines was more than an inspiration to me she was a protector, a nurturer, and a living example of what true compassion looks like. She made me feel seen here and expressed to me religiously how my gifts were special and I have everything I need.
She was the one who first introduced me to serving the homeless community of Skid Row. She didn’t just invite me to help she showed me how to show up with dignity, respect, and real love. Through her, I learned what it means to care for people without conditions.
Because of Shirley, my organization @dopehumanla exists today. This organization, this mission, this heart for the community it all traces back to her believing in me and pushing me to act on that belief. She taught me how to care about something and mean it, and I carry that lesson with me in everything I do.
Thank you, Shirley, for pouring into me, for guiding me, and for changing the course of my life. Your legacy lives on through the streets you served, the people you loved, and the work I will continue in your honor. Rest gently, Queen.
