Finally got the Passat back and out in time for @players_shows with a new r-line rear bumper and R36 valence, slightly tinted rear lights and a custom retrim by @revracing in Golf GTE tartan and black Alcantara
This ate up the miles at the weekend and is such a good cruising car, proper GT spec now. I always wanted to go OEM+ with this and it’s pretty much there now. Maybe a change around with the wheels but otherwise I’m happy

A photo dump of life lately as there isn’t much mini stuff to update on. Life can be a bitch sometimes
1. Engine all fitted up and looking good, need to rip it out again to finish the bay and get the gearbox sorted
2. Bodywork slowly coming along, happy with how the scuttle has turned out after cutting out some rust and filling some holes
3. Got myself some race car parts and powder coated the wheels
4. Replaced the passenger footwell as that wasn’t doing too great but rust hasn’t been a massive issue over the whole car luckily
5. Pec / shoulder tendon exploded so I’ve had to have surgery which I’m recovering from (hence slow progress and quietness lately)
6. Managed to be healthy enough to wash the Passat for once with the best @autofinesse
7. New dog is chaotic but a good addition
8. Many beers have been consumed
Life is life, more beers to drink and the mini to finish so we go again

Took a trip up to see the one and only @doomatt and see how the Honda mini build is coming along!
a pretty chill day of replacing some crusty panels and having a well needed catch up ⚔️
Really excited to see the result of this build, but that doesn’t happen without progress which I really think people should document and post more!

Mini update…..there isn’t much to update on. I’ve done a lot of welding and the engine bay is almost as smooth as I’d like it to be, the front end has been cleaned up a lot too. Windows out and hardly any rust to treat so I’m ready to crack on with the D-series swap as soon as the subframe arrives.
Motivation is always low when it’s this deep into a build but I know it’ll be better when it’s back out. It’s got me looking back at all the past versions of the mini and how much @autofinesse I’ve actually used over the years 😂 can’t tell you how happy I will be to be back out in the little red tin can cleaning it again.
