Smudge never broke up. Smudge moved a little slower at the end of the last millennium and indeed signs of life, the beating pulse of Smudge seemed to have ceased as last rites were read.
However, in less dramatic and truer terms, Smudge never stopped drawing breath. An average of 3.75 shows a year since 2001, new songs, THREE albums in 2010 and live appearances in four time zones across two hemispheres, the Sydney/Maitland-based trio celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the release of their landmark debut album “Manilow” with a vinyl re-issue. The following year, it’s 21st birthday, saw the release of “Manilow – Tribute”, an extremely limited vinyl album reconstructed song-by-song by some of Smudge’s buddies including Courtney Barnett, Lou Barlow (Sebadoh), Evan Dando (Lemondheads), Tim Rogers & Davey Lane (You Am I) Alannah Russack & Simon Holmes (The Hummingbirds) and many more.

Knievel are excited to announce that they will be launching the vinyl reissue of their album ’Steep Hill Climb’ with a gig on Saturday, November 29 at Mixtape with support from Sydney legends Smudge. It promises to be a gala night of indie pandemonium. Songs from the album will be performed but sources close to the band say they may fall short of preforming the entire album in sequence.
Limited copies of the Steep Hill Climb album will be available along with a smorgasbord of product themed merchandise such as Knievel caps and tee shirts.

Our Knievel album Steep Hill Climb will be available on vinyl for the first time courtesy of the good folk at Love is Fiction Records. The album has been remastered for top sound and there is the added bonus of an inner sleeve with photos from the era taken with inadequate lighting.
The launch show will be Saturday November 29 with Smudge at Mixtape in Marrickville.
