There aren’t enough words in the English language to adequately describe my feelings for Darkstar Theater, but I’m gonna give it a shot.
When we opened this place up four years ago, just a couple weeks after we lost music at Shady Park, we knew we had a tough road ahead. It was an all-hands-on-deck situation, but we had faith that we could turn our loss into something beautiful. Over these four years, we’ve remodeled twice and put on every kind of event you could think of- comedy, K-Pop, reggaeton, dance music, open mics, Bollywood, throwbacks, college nights, and some more that I’m sure I’m missing. Every member of our team put in crazy effort and countless hours to make Darkstar Theater a place where people of all demographics could have fun and let loose. And although it absolutely shatters me to let it go, I wouldn’t trade the sleepless nights and constant stress for anything- the good times made it all worth it. And now that it’s all said and done, I know we accomplished our goal of building something beautiful.
Darkstar Theater is a music venue, yes, but the beauty of its legacy isn’t the venue itself. It’s the love and joy you all brought TO the venue. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. This community is what made Darkstar so special, and I consider myself so fucking lucky to have been on this ride with you all.
We have one last chance to dance this Sunday- I’ll see you there 🖤
