We opened a gallery in Greenpoint and named it Donkey. 🫏 Donkeys carry the weight and keep going. Artists do the same. They carry the culture, and move us into whatever is next. Serious work, shown in unstuffy ways. Events that feel like gatherings. A space for people who make things. @donkeygreenpoint has landed - come visit! 60 West Street, Greenpoint

David catalogs his 1,000+ drawings in folders, "almost like case files." Mallory has folders. The cats have folders. The back deck has one, too. They start from life and finish from memory. Some he made once. Others he made until he understood them. "Springtime in New York." Opening reception 5/15, 6-9pm.

When David Rhoads started his job at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2015, he found a stack of MET letterhead on his desk. He began drawing on it during his lunch breaks. In 2016, the museum re-branded. The letterhead was decommissioned. He gathered as much of the old stock as he could and gave himself a rule: He would only make drawings on this paper while he worked at the Met. He left in September 2025: Ten years, 1200 drawings. 151 are on display at Donkey, from 5/15-5/31. Join us to celebrate his exhibition, "Springtime in New York."
