My friend @nosespin360 posted this contest run from the Lotte skate contest in 1989 Tokyo, Japan. Never seen this before. For those that don’t speak Japanese I’ll translate for you. “Ah yes… now skating… Don Brown. Judges are confused. They say his pants are… how you say… future yoga technology. Very loose. Possibly from brand called… Lululemon? Commentators note Vuori would be more flattering.” “He is moving across the course with many small tik taks . So many. They ask: is this a new technique… or urgent bathroom situation?” “Ah! Matsu points to the double-sided yellow curb in the back. Very skateable. Very beautiful. Don ignores it completely. Commentators conclude: this man must be married. Zero interest in impressing anyone.” “Judges admire the shoes — Vision Street Wear. One says: ‘Ah yes, I paid for my 1986 Honda CRX by grey marketing these shoes and selling them to Stormy skate shop. Other judges cover their mouths and hide their VSW. shoes from sight.” “Camera zooms in on hair. Commentators debating: strong American hair gel… or accidental electrocution from incorrect travel adapter. Both are possible.” “OH! He falls off the skateboard. Entire Japanese audience shocked. They say they have never seen this before.
