And on Saturday at 10:35am, Brigitte Winter, @domsdickey ✨, @nearfutures ✨, Nat Mesnard ✨, and @justinsirois ✨will present Story Game Presses: Pitching, Submissions, and Publishing, sharing a behind the scenes look at the unique world of narrative game publishing, submissions, and distribution. Dominique Dickey is a speculative fiction writer and game designer. As the creative director of Sly Robot Games, they’ve created Plant Girl Game and Tomorrow on Revelation III. They contributed to the Nebula Award-winning Thirsty Sword Lesbians, and the ENNIE Award-winning Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel. Their short fiction has appeared in venues including Fantasy Magazine, Lightspeed Magazine, and Nightmare Magazine. Their novella Redundancies & Potentials is now available from Neon Hemlock Press. They live in the DC area, where they’re always on the hunt for their next idea. We can't wait to welcome Dominque and four other local authors to this event. 👾SEPTEMBER WORKSHOP👾 Demystifying Play: Getting Started with Game Design, featuring Sly Robot Games Interested in game design but not sure where to get started? Don’t worry: you’ve probably already made a game or two. Join game designers Dominique Dickey and C. J. Linton for an introductory game design workshop. We’ll start with theory and then get hands on to explore the why and how of making a game. This workshop is intended for folks who are new to game design or excited to go back to the basics! Writers and artists of all experience levels are welcome to join. We want you here even if you’ve never attended a workshop before, or drawn a comic! Registration link in our bio. Accessibility: Rhizome is within walking distance from the Takoma metro station and multiple bus lines. They have a small parking area in addition to street parking. There is a ramp leading up to the back door, but the only bathroom is up a flight of stairs. Masks will be required with KN95s available and a HEPA filter running on site.
